YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD
Caleb White is a senior at Detroit Catholic Central High School where he wrestles and runs cross country & track. Caleb was the recipient of the State and National Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. He has also received the President's Volunteer Service Award, the Governor's Youth Leader of the Year Award, The Sparky Anderson Youth in Philanthropy Award, the Nickelodeon Halo Award and the Kohl's Cares Scholarship. He serves on the Youth Council for the Detroit Rescue Mission and the Youth Advisory Board for Purposeful Networks. Caleb carries a 4.3 GPA and is a member of his National Honors Society.
Hannah Parsons is a sophomore at Williamston High School and holds a 4.0 GPA. She is an active member in her school’s programs, some of which include: PALS, Student Government, Mu Alpha Theta and WHS’s Math and Science Academy. She also loves playing volleyball for both Williamston and Attack Volleyball Club. Hannah’s love for meeting new people has grown from her diverse volunteering experiences and she enjoys helping others and building relationships through the Caleb White Project, which she was introduced to through serving at a Game Night at the shelter. Hannah believes in the power of youth leadership and aspires to attend the University of Michigan.
Grant Landry is a senior at Cranbrook Kingswood Preparatory School where he is on the Varsity basketball and track teams. Grant is a member of the Dean's List, plays baseball, and is a First Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. In seventh grade, Grant was chosen to participate in Northwestern University’s NUMATS program for Gifted and Talented Students. Grant enjoys hanging out with friends, playing video games, and traveling.
Brendin Yatooma is a senior at Detroit Catholic Central High School. He is the captain of the varsity football team and wrestles on the varsity blue team. He is very passionate about helping the homeless and enjoys spending time with Veterans and their families, thanking them for their service. Brendin carries a 4.1 GPA and plans to study sports medicine in college.
Chloe Parsons is an 8th grader at Williamston Middle School where she is an honor roll student and a recipient of the Williamston Middle School Merit Award. Chloe has always had a love for helping other kids and making a positive impact on others’ lives. She is a part of many different volunteering experiences and participates in both Student Government and PALS (Peer Assisted Learning). She loves volleyball and plays for both Williamston and Attack Volleyball Club
Joey Gusumano is a senior at Orchard Lake St. Marys where he is an honor-roll student. He was drawn to the Caleb White Project through their shared passion for helping others. Joey enjoys playing lacrosse, golf, and video games. He spends his summers working as a caddie at Orchard Lake Country Club. Joey hopes to attend Syracuse University and play lacrosse for The Orange! He plans to study engineering and pursue a career that will allow him to, "make the world a better place."
Avery Riker is a freshman at St. Regis School in Bloomfield Hills and will attend Seaholm High School next Fall. Avery enjoys sports, such as softball, volleyball and she also participates in various drama productions. Since she first volunteered with the CWP, Avery has developed an increased desire to become actively involved in all aspects of volunteering and to inspire others in her community to do the same. Avery is very enthusiastic and honored to be part of such an amazing group of young adults wanting to make a positive impact.
Luc Landry is a sophomore at Cranbrook Kingswood Preparatory School. Luc is a Senior Royal member of the Huron Valley Penguins swim team and has a first degree black belt in Taekwondo. Luc has been volunteering for the CWP for a number of years and is extremely excited to join the board so he can continue to make a difference in the lives of others. Luc enjoys skateboarding, swimming and snowboarding in his free time. He would love to become a Marine Biologist one day, and learn to surf and dive with sharks.
Diego Farah is a senior at Walled Lake Northern High School where he plays soccer. Diego has lived in Mexico and Brazil, and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. He is co-founder of Kharts, an organization focused on helping children and animals around the world through art projects and volunteer opportunities. He has a passion for helping others through art and has raised funds and delivered help to orphanages in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil, and various local charities. Diego has volunteered in Costa Rica helping rehabilitate animals and he participated in coastal cleanups in Brazil. He hopes to continue working toward making a positive change in the world. He enjoys photography and aspires to study abroad and pursue a career in environmental science and international relations.
Lily Thomas is a junior at Northville High School. She enjoys playing lacrosse, which she has been doing since 3rd grade. After volunteering at Impacting by Backpacking in 2016, Lily's passion for service has grown. She now helps lead several CWP projects while serving on the youth advisory board. Lily looks forward to making a difference in the community and the lives of people everywhere.
